Top 100 Biggest Games of 2009

It’s said that “Anticipation is half the fun.” As such, this list will be based on both factual and indeterminable factors like: hype, a developer’s track record, fanboy anticipation, previous sales if it’s a series, even nostalgia was taken into account. Obviously not every upcoming game could be included or it’d be a top 300, which it was at one point during the 20 hours of researching and editing. So I skipped on expansions to focus on the biggest new releases, but for games to be included they have to have at least been announced or talked about by their developer/publisher. Games that we think are likely to be released outside of Japan this year, or which haven’t been confirmed for release in 2009 yet but have been in development for years, will all be written in italic to make clear it’s our guesstimate it’s coming. The rest of the games have all been confirmed for 2009, but are — as always — subject to possible delay.
